Danita Wiggins

Danita WigginsDanita is an Albany native, she has 15 (+) years of experience in working with families with low to moderate incomes.  She currently holds a bachelor’s degree on Psychology, minor in Business Administration.  In her current position, she is responsible for coordinating the Choice Neighborhood Initiative under the office of the Executive Director.  This requires working closely with residents in the McIntosh Community, surrounding neighborhoods and community partners.  Additionally, this position is responsible for Community Service Programs.  This includes planning, implementing and working with residents in other AMPs by coordinating community services programs with the needs of lower income families.  Danita’s roles and duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating and supervising all activities and employees related to community service, planning with residents the provision of needed social services and works with other agencies for the provision of these services, acting as coordinator for volunteer recruitment, working closely and cooperatively with the Property Managers and supervisory personnel, sorting and filing correspondence, forms and other office documents according to established guidelines, maintaining positive relations with residents, stakeholders, agencies and the Albany/Dougherty County law enforcement agencies, and working with resident leaders of organizations to improve participation.

Danita is a prominent member of the community. She received the 2009-2010 Community Services Award from Sigma Gamma Rho, Inc.; she is a member of Southwest Georgia 40 Under 40, and a graduate of Leadership Albany.  She volunteers on a regular basis for several community partner events.
